What I’ve Read – November 2023

Dec 1, 2023 | What I've Read

It’s the start of December! I can hardly believe 2023 is over.

On the reading front, there weren’t as many books as in other months, however there was a lot of driving, so I listened to quite a few audiobooks. I am grateful for Borrow Box that means I can easily borrow audiobooks to listen to on long drives.

Here is what I read during November:

  • The Ghosts of Paris by Tara Moss – I listened to this one on audiobook. It’s the second Billie Walker mystery and I was so disappointed to find there isn’t a third one available. I hope it’s in the works.
  • The Wonderful Thing about Phoenix Rose by Josephine Moon – a book that had been sitting on my TBR pile for way too long. I enjoyed this story, that features a late diagnosed autistic girl, but not as much as other books by the same author. It’s still a book that I recommend.
  • Heart Swings by Renee Conoulty – a romance novella that was a fun, quick read.
  • Queen Bee by Ciara Geraghty – I listened to this one on audiobook and it was a lot of fun. Almost a ‘coming of age’ story for menopausal women.
  • Don’t Mean a Thing – by Renee Conoulty – a fun romance set in Darwin featuring a lot of swing dancing. This was a fun story, and now I want to read book 2 in the series.
  • The Wobby Wallaby and the Absolute Bandicoot by Prema Nishan – the latest addition to my picture book collection, and a fun story featuring neurodiverse characters.

I currently have two books on the go. Becoming Mrs Mulberry by Jackie French on audiobook and Late Bloomer by Clem Bastow, as well as my huge TBR pile!

I am also on the hunt for some recommendations for Christmas books, especially those set in a warm, Australian Christmas. If you know of any, please let me know.

Benefits of Creative Writing for Mental Health

Creative writing is something I have done to support my mental health since I was a kid, it's something I did naturally. I have also seen benefits in the participants of my writing groups, that I've been doing for the last 12 years. One of the biggest things I've seen...
