BTS – 52 Blog Post Ideas for Authors

Mar 12, 2026 | Blog

Welcome to the behind the scenes for my next book. This time it’s an ebook.

When I got back to creative writing in 2011, I had recently closed my business, Business Mums Network. I had started this business in 2002 and a big part of that was blogging. It was natural that I started blogging as an author when I was writing, so I started a blog called Melissa Writes. Through this, I joined quite a few blogging challenges and shared my journey as I started writing fiction.

One of the things that I did in my business was to write and publish tips for mums in business, and I used some of that knowledge to create a small guide for authors. My original plan was to publish a number of these small ebooks, but somehow my confidence dipped after the first one.

From everything that I had learned since the start of 2012, when I started my writing blog, I put together a list of ideas for blog post prompts called, not very imaginatively, 52 Blog Post Ideas: Blogging for Authors. The idea was this is a small, cheap ebook that authors may find useful when looking for ideas for blog posts. Now that many are moving away to ‘content creation’ for social media, these tips can be used for that too.

Once again, I called on Juliann from Lilly Pilly Publishing to do the cover design and layout and I uploaded the ebook to Amazon.

Recently, I’ve been thinking I should update the cover and maybe create a print version I can sell at markets, but that is a task for another day.

This ebook is one I promote, often in January when people are planning their content for the year. The tips are still relevant and can spark ideas for content.

You can download the ebook from Amazon.
