What I’ve Read – April 2018

May 1, 2018 | What I've Read

April was an interesting month for us, along with Easter and school holidays, my older son was weaning off his pain medication in preparation for treatment for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

I started the month feeling a bit off and not able to read much, so I started reading #single, a book I received as part of the Romance box from Bookcase Australia. It’s a collection of snapshots from real-life conversations from online dating. It was a quick read and it was OK, though it would have benefited from an introduction for those not familiar with the blog they came from.

My next read was The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I had so many people recommend this book to me and I was able to purchase a copy with a gift voucher I received for Christmas. After reading it, I’m the one who is recommending it to everyone! I really want to see the movie now.

While we were away for my son’s treatment, I read The Twits by Roald Dahl. I hadn’t read this book before, and I can’t say it’s my favourite book by Roald Dahl, though there were some very funny parts.

The last book during April was The Stranger Within by G.C. Johnson, a book by a teen with the same medical condition as my son. This is a fantastic story, and a review will be up in a couple of weeks.

I am 36 books into the GoodReads reading challenge for the year!
