Worth Reading: The Very Strange Orange

Jun 8, 2026 | Worth Reading

I learned about this picture book through a kidlit Facebook group and was able to download a free copy on Amazon.

The Very Strange Orange is a picture book that is aimed at older readers and kids who ask questions like ‘If an orange is blue, is it still an orange?’. It’s the sort of book my kids would have loved when they were younger (and may enjoy it now as adults too).

This book encourages kids to think out of the box and ponder these sorts of questions.

The illustrations are bright and fun and help with pondering these questions.

Along with being a good story, this is one parents and kids can connect with as they ponder fruit and colours and more.
