Keynote Speech
Melissa Gijsbers is an engaging keynote speaker who combines storytelling, humour, and lived experience as a late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD woman.
She inspires audiences with her journey as an author and advocate, offering fresh perspectives on creativity, neurodivergence, and the power of stories to connect us. Whether speaking to schools, parent groups, or professional events, Melissa leaves audiences informed, encouraged, and empowered to see the world — and themselves — in new ways.

School Visits
Melissa brings energy, humour, and heart to every school visit. As an award-winning author and late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD woman, she shares how stories spark creativity, build confidence, and support wellbeing.
Her engaging sessions can be tailored for both primary and secondary students, connecting directly with classroom needs and curriculum goals. Using her own books—including the crowd favourite My Mummy is Evil!—Melissa inspires students to see the joy in writing and the power of reading.
Presentations are available in-person or virtually, and always leave students buzzing with ideas, laughter, and a fresh perspective on storytelling.
Writing Workshops
Melissa’s writing workshops are all about creativity, confidence, and fun. Designed for ages 8 through to adults, these sessions give participants the chance to explore their imagination, experiment with different styles and genres, and discover the joy of storytelling.
Each workshop includes playful, hands-on writing activities that spark ideas and encourage self-expression—making them a perfect choice for libraries, schools, and community organisations seeking creative programs that also support wellbeing and mental health.
Regular teen writing groups currently run in Mt Waverley, Sale, and Maffra.

Parent Sessions
Do you want to support your neurodivergent child to fall in love with reading and creative writing? Melissa offers practical, real-world strategies drawn from her own lived experience as a late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD woman, as well as from raising her children and working with young writers for over a decade.
Her parent talks are warm, insightful, and full of encouragement—helping you understand how to nurture creativity, confidence, and even dreams of becoming a published author.
Melissa is available to run sessions for schools, parent groups, and organisations. She also offers webinars and in-person events that any parent or carer can attend.
