Last night we had a wonderful night at Reading’s Children’s Books in Carlton launching Lizzy’s Dragon.
It was an extra special night as it was a double launch with Hidden by Sif Dal.
My 15 year old son has been in the hospital for the last couple of weeks (you can read more about it over here) and were able to pick him up to attend the launch.
The evening started with a gathering of family and friends. I was so excited to see a couple of the kids from the Monash Young Writer’s Group come, as well as some friends I hadn’t seen in ages. My 5 year old nephew pushed his way to the front to sit with my 13 year old, to make sure he wouldn’t miss any of the fun.
Once everyone had gathered, my publisher kicked off the night and launched Hidden, then it was my turn.
My good friend, Eileen Louden, launched Lizzy’s Dragon for me, and I read an excerpt. I chose the part when Lizzy’s egg hatches for the first time.
All that over, it was time for photos, shopping, and book signing. Signing books never gets old, and quite a few people lined up to get their books signed.
When all the books had been signed, we went out for dinner with my publisher before returning to the hospital with my son.
It was a wonderful night, and I’m looking forward to doing it all again. I just need to write a new story.
