A New Chapter at Elmsbury Bookshop

I’m excited. I have a new book out today. This is another romance novella – A New Chapter at Elmsbury Bookshop.

I started writing this story back in 2016. I got an idea and wrote 10,000 words in a couple of days. At the time, I was writing more stories for children than anything else, so this was something new, and I really enjoyed it. The words I wrote had a beginning and an end, but not really a middle… so I sat on it. And sat on it.

Every now and again, I would dust it off and try to work out what could be in the middle, and it didn’t work very well. I tried writing different versions, I explored different issues, however none of them sat right for this particular story. So I continued to put it aside, but it was always in the back of my mind.

Earlier this year, I got an idea and rewrote the story with a focus on the bookshop. I was much happier with what I had and sent it to two beta readers for their thoughts. They picked up on a few things, and one recommended adding an epilogue to see what happens to Kelly and Joe at the end of the story. Another friend, who had read the story, helped me work out what that could look like.

I also played around with numerous designs on Canva for the cover before I found something that I liked.

The ebook of this novella is now live on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited. I’ll be working on the print version this week. Click here to get your copy.
