What I’ve Read – December 2022

Jan 1, 2023 | What I've Read

Happy New Year!

I made it to 100 books in 2023, although there are a few more that weren’t recorded on GoodReads as the books aren’t listed.

I started the month by finally finishing The Nurses War by Victoria Purman. This was a fantastic book and I enjoyed it. The reason it took so long is that it’s a thick book that made it harder to carry around and read when I had appointments.

I also read The Mayfair Bookshop by Eliza Knight. This was my Christmas Eve book and I finished it before New Year. This was an interesting story with two timelines.

For audiobooks, I was getting in to Christmas and enjoyed Christmas in Icicle Falls by Sheila Roberts, Hetty Feather’s Christmas by Jacqueline Wilson, as well as the first two books in the Travelling Bookshop series by Katrina Nannestad.

The Bravest Word by Kate Foster is another one that took way too long to read as I kept misplacing the book, and I really enjoyed. I also loved A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicholl.

I enjoyed Ajay Rane by Deb Fitzpatrick, part of the Aussie STEM Stars series, and the first two of the Amanda Commander books by Coral Vass. Anna and the Christmas Tree by Stephanie Hrehirchuk to get into the Christmas spirit, and Bruno Won’t Dance by Sally Rippin (before I gave it to my nephew for Christmas!)

As always, picture books featured strongly including One Yelpie Kelpie and the Great Western Plains Adventure by Jo Rothwell, The Day My Best Friend and a Migraine Slept Over by Audrey Beth Stein, Snowy’s Christmas by Sally Murphy, How to Catch an Elf by Adam Wallace, Paisley the Perfectionist, Rosalee the Seeker, and Alexander the Avoider all by Nicole Filippone.

This brings my reading year to an end. I’m looking forward to seeing what books 2023 brings.

My Own Favourite Books

This past weekend, ABC Radio National had a countdown of their Top 100 Books. There weren't many that I have read, or wanted to read, and those I had, I didn't love. I thought I would share some of the books that stood out to me since I started tracking the books I...
