What I’ve Read – June 2022

Jul 1, 2022 | What I've Read

I can hardly believe the year is half over! The weather has been absolutely freezing, however I haven’t had as much opportunity as I would have liked to just curl up in front of the heater  and read.

As in May, I spent a lot of time driving, and was able to enjoy some wonderful audiobooks. Pride by Ibi Zoboi is a retelling of Pride & Prejudice and the narrator added a flavour to the story that I would have missed had I not been listening to it. The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris is one that was a recommendation in book club and I thoroughly enjoyed it and am planning to give it to one of my nephews as a birthday present. I have started listening to The Lady with the Gun by Kerry Greenwood and loving these stories about Phryne Fisher.

I enjoyed a picture book, The Travelling Book by Charissa Bates & Nadja Bullis, a book about street libraries and the places a book can travel over its lifetime.

The Secret Science Society’s Spectacular Experiment by Kathy Hoopmann, Josie Montano, and Ann-Marie Finn was the next on the Forevability Awards list and was a fantastic story for kids (and grown ups).

I also finished reading The Jam Queens by Josephine Moon, a wonderful story that goes through the middle of Australia and features four generations of strong women.

I’ve made progress on All That Happened in Number 26 by Denise Scott, and trying to keep my hands of some other books before I’ve finished this one! (how long do you think that will last?)

According to GoodReads, I’m at book 41 of 50 for the year. The year is half finished and I’ve read more than half of my goal…

How was your reading during June? I hope you were able to find time to curl up in front of the heater with a good book.
