What I’ve Read – July 2021

Aug 1, 2021 | What I've Read

We are already in the second half of the year!!

Unlike the first half of the year, I only read one picture book in July. Stop the Dad Jokes! by Adrian Beck is one I bought for my dad. Thankfully he doesn’t read my blog as it’s for his birthday on 7 August! This is a great book for Father’s Day too.

I read some amazing middle grade books. Marlow Brown: Magician in the Making by Kesta Fleming started things off, followed by The Lady with the Lamp by Jane Smith. Both of these were sent to me for review and were fantastic.

The Extraordinary Ordinary Gum Tree by Karen Casey was next. I met Karen at a local authors showcase and had to get my hands on her books. This is a great read with some fantastic Aussie animals.

Be Your Own Man by Jessica Saunders could be a picture book, although it’s longer than the usual picture book. It was a good book about what it means to be a boy or man these days and one I wish had been around when my boys were younger.

Last, but not least, The Greatest Gift by Rachael Johns on audiobook rounded out the month. This was another fascinating story. I’m not sure I’ve read a book where one of the main characters has a career as a hot air balloonist.

That’s it for July. I hope you had a month full of amazing books too.
