Blind Date with a Book – Feb 2020

Gorgeous table decorations

Last night, I had a lot of fun at the Reader’s Emporium Blind Date with a Book. The last one I went to was nearly two years ago!

One great drawcard was that the event is walking distance from home and it was a beautiful evening, so I decided to walk, though I made sure to have an umbrella with me just in case it rained (it didn’t and I arrived home completely dry).

The night started with a lovely chai and talking with some fellow book lovers and writers, before we moved into the next room to start the evening.

Delicious dinner and a few word and writing games later, we all had some new friends and sat in anticipation of the blind dates that were wrapped in brown paper on the table at the front of the room. After all, this is what we had all been waiting for.

Andrea, our hostess, read out a few words to describe each book, we wrote down any that piqued our interest, and then it was time to choose. One guest asked Andrea to choose for her, and the books were handed out. The ones that I had written down were snapped up quickly, so I asked Andrea to help me find a book. I came home with Nagasaki by Eric Faye. It’s a short book, and looks like an interesting story.

When we all had our books, it was time to go home, along with some goodies from Onyx Cafe.

This was a wonderful evening and it made a nice change to sitting at home. I’m hoping to attend the next event in March. This one was so much fun. If you’re in or around Traralgon, be sure to check your calendar and come along.
