I can’t believe it’s been a week since launched Swallow Me, NOW!

Last Saturday at 1pm, at Oakleigh Library, a group gathered ready to launch my first book. There were 28 adults and 11 kids in attendance, including many family members.

The day was opened by Eileen Louden, the children & youth librarian, followed by my my 12 year old son with his 10 year old brother standing next to him. Nat shared his own experiences of being bullied at school along with funny stories about him doing some of the illustrations in the book. The amazing Rachel Flynn also came to help launch my book, talking about the writing process as well as the book.

Then it was my turn to speak. I spoke a bit about why I wrote this story and the process before reading the first couple of chapters of the story. It was well received. Attention then turned to book signing.

A number of people who attended had pre-purchased their books through my crowdfunding campaign and were there to pick them up, along with a number of others who bought their books on the day. A wonderful friend, Lea, manned the sales table so I was able to concentrate on signing books. There was tea and coffee and afternoon tea for everyone who attended.

By the end of the launch, I was very tired, but happy. I can’t wait to do it again.

Below are a few photos of the day.

My Own Favourite Books

This past weekend, ABC Radio National had a countdown of their Top 100 Books. There weren't many that I have read, or wanted to read, and those I had, I didn't love. I thought I would share some of the books that stood out to me since I started tracking the books I...
