What I’ve Read – January 2020

Feb 1, 2020 | What I've Read

Happy New Year everyone.

It’s been a crazy start to 2020 with much of Australia on fire. About 18 months ago, we moved to Gippsland and there were fires in East Gippsland, a couple of hours drive away. Our week away was cancelled and there were many days when we were stuck inside away from the smoke outside.

I set my GoodReads goal to 50 books this year, and I’ve already read 10 books!

To start the year, I read five picture books, Together ThingsDragon PostMessage in a SockPrincess Alexia and the Dragon, and Hayden’s Bedtime.  I also read two picture books that weren’t listed on Goodreads – Our Bush Capital, and Tree: A gentle story of love and loss. Picture books are amazing. I love discovering new picture books and seeing how the words and pictures go together. I have also found it interesting looking at how picture books are formatted for the Kindle.

I have continued listening to audiobooks, starting with The Apprentice Witch by James Nicol. It was an interesting story, especially how the witches in this story wove their spells.

I read one middle grade book, The Dragonsitter Takes Off! by Josh Lacey. This was a book that was added to my Street Library. I read the first one last year, and this one was fun too.

Along with picture books and audiobooks, I decided to work through some of the ebooks I have on my kindle. I download a lot of them but not read them… I started this year reading Witch is When it All Began by Adele Abbott, followed by Love and Fast-Pitch by Crystal Estell.

To finish off the month, I read Lovely Vengeance: The Stranger Within by G.C. Johnson. This is the second book in the trilogy. The third is due out later this year and I’m looking forward to the next installment.

My reading for 2020 is off to a great start. I’m hoping to make a big dent in my TBR pile this year without adding to it too much…
