A new book is coming

Back in 2012, I entered a flash fiction competition  with a story called My Princess Wears a Superman Cape.

This is the story of two little girls who can’t agree how to play with their Princess dolls, coming to the conclusion that girls can be whoever they want to be.

I won the competition with this story, and I had a feeling that it would make a fantastic picture book.

Since then, I have been working on this story on and off. It’s a story that has stayed with me, begging to be published.

Last year, I bit the bullet and finished editing (at last), including renaming it My Princess Wears a Superhero Cape. I also decided to take the plunge and self-publish this title. Once again, I’m working with the amazing Julieann Wallace from Lilly Pilly Publishing to get this book out there. I will also be working with the awesome Megan Higginson as my illustrator.

I’m really excited about this book. It will be my first picture book and my fourth book. We are aiming for a release date in October and will be running a crowdfunding campaign later in the year.

If you want to be kept up to date on the progress of the illustrations, be sure to check out Megan’s website and Facebook page.

Watch this space for details of our crowdfunding so you can be one of the first to get your hands on a copy of My Princess Wears a Superhero Cape as well as the launch.
