During October, I took a break from audio books, partly because I didn’t have as much time as I wanted to browse the library shelves to find some, and because my kids took control of the CD player in the car!
The list of books read during October has been shorter than recent months.
I finished reading The Queens Governess by Karen Harper. This was an interesting story about Kat Ashley, the governess of Queen Elizabeth I, covering her early years until Queen Elizabeth I takes the throne.
I read three picture books. The Bear and the Piano David Litchfield by was given to my parents and it’s a wonderful story about learning a new skill and having the support of those back home. This is a Ball by Beck and Matt Stanton was a lot of fun, and one that my teenagers wanted to add to our picture book collection. The third was You Can Do It Joey by Kerry Malone. I received this book as part of her crowdfunding campaign and has been one that I’ve wanted to read for quite some time.
Speaking of Kerry Malone, I also enjoyed reading her new book, Sophie Makes New Friends, a chapter book for kids.
I finished the month reading The Lily and the Rose by Jackie French. This is the second book in her Miss Lily series. I enjoyed it a lot and can’t wait for Book 3.
