When did you first become serious about writing and know you wanted to be an author?

Becoming an author

Becoming an author

The answer to this post relates back to a question from a few weeks ago. I have wanted to write books for years and I made a serious effort in the late 1990s to get a picture book published. I also submitted a proposal for a book about baby and bridal showers. Both of these were rejected. In the case of the baby and bridal shower book, the feedback was they didn’t think there was enough of a market – this was before showers were popular here in Australia. I suppose I was ahead of my time.

Life got in the way for a number of years, and it’s only been the last couple of years I’ve really got back into writing fiction, although I’ve been a blogger since around 2006. One of the things I’m doing is working to turn some of these old blog posts in to books. It’s a lot of fun revisiting this old information and dusting it off again.
