Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages per day?

Daily word count?

Daily word count?

The number of words I aim for depends on what I’m working on.

The only time I really have a daily goal is during the Chapter Book Challenge. I use a website called 750words.com and aim to write a chapter a day of at least 750 each day. This way, I get my draft done during the challenge, and that number of words seems to fit best around my daily life.

There are times when I’ll set myself a challenge to write a piece of flash fiction every day for a set time, or another challenge of a draft using the same word count as above, but not always. In the past year I’ve been focusing a lot on editing, and between work and kids, I find I have to focus on either writing or editing in order to maintain my sanity.

I would love to have time to write thousands of words a day, but I know that this isn’t possible right now. Given what is happening in my life right now, this method works well for me.
